York County dog shot in face

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY -- A dog was shot in the face and left for dead.

Now, folks at the York County S.P.C.A. want to know who did it.

Meg, a spayed female, is between five and seven years old. About a week ago, she was found abandoned in York Township. Emergency workers thought Meg was hit by a car, but later found a bullet inside her body.

Meg still has a cut on her nose from the gunshot.

Melissa Smith, executive director of the York County S.P.C.A., thinks whoever shot Meg was trying to end her life.

"It looks to me like they were trying to shoot her between the eyes to maybe end her life and maybe they were just a bad shot," Smith said.

Meg has some problems with her sinuses and eating due to the shooting – but despite her problems, she's expected to make a full recovery.

The S.P.C.A. hopes to find the person who shot Meg, and to find her a new home.
