Wine festival in Hershey
May 7, 2008
DERRY TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY —
More than 150 wineries from all over the world are getting ready to converge on Hershey to help raise money for a good cause.
On Wednesday night, the Giant Center will be transformed into a wine mecca. There will be 150 vintners from all across the world pouring their best. If you know anything about wine, we're talking about Rothschild, Cakebread, and Mondavi. All of them pouring to raise money for a good cause.
It's the first time Hershey will hold a wine festival of this magnitude. The wine and the winemakers are coming from all across the world. Basically, how the event works is you buy a ticket to either the VIP tasting at 4:00 or the Grand tasting at 6:00 and the money from that ticket will go to benefit the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Organizers say helping the kids by raising money is a great goal is to have.
"it's always a wonderful thing when you can help a great organization, one that's right in your background. It gives us a chance to help out a wonderful cause," said Melissa Stradnick, public relations coordinator for Hershey.
Tickets are still available to the event. They run $125 for the Grand tasting and $250 for the VIP and as we said all the proceeds benefit charity.
The event is part of Pennsylvania's wine week. The Hershey event works in conjunction with similar events in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. All of the events benefit hospitals across the state.
